A Federal Jury sentenced William Jefferson because of the council's former representative member the New Orleans part was accused received more than $ 400.000 in bribes and seeking millions more in exchange for brokering business deals in Africa.

“He used his office and his influence to enrich himself,” Dana Boente, US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia said.
